What We Believe
Historic Christian Faith, Clearly Taught
At Morningstar Church, we believe God’s Word alone is our final authority, that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, and that all glory belongs to God alone. These truths shape our worship, our teaching, and our life together as a church family.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
God made us to know Him, love Him, and obey Him. But we have all sinned. We have not loved God with our whole heart, and we have not loved our neighbor as we should. Sin is not just a mistake or a bad habit. It is guilt before a holy God, and it deserves His just judgment. We cannot fix ourselves or earn our way back to Him.
The good news is that God did not leave sinners without hope. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived the obedient life we have not lived, and He died on the cross to pay the penalty our sins deserve. On the third day He rose from the dead, proving that the debt is paid and death is defeated.
God saves us by grace, not by our effort. He calls us to repent, turn from sin, and trust in Jesus Christ alone. When we trust Him, God forgives us, counts us righteous because of Christ, and receives us as His children. He also gives His Spirit to change us, so our lives begin to grow in obedience, love, and holiness. Real peace is found in Jesus, because through Him we are made right with God.
Creeds and Confessions
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell*; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic† Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

- Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic* faith;
- Which faith except every one do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly.
- And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity;

- So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God;
- And yet they are not three Gods, but one God.
- So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son Lord, and the Holy Spirit Lord;
- And yet they are not three Lords but one Lord.
- For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity to acknowledge every Person by himself to be God and Lord;
- So are we forbidden by the catholic religion to say; There are three Gods or three Lords.
- The Father is made of none, neither created nor begotten.
- The Son is of the Father alone; not made nor created, but begotten.
- The Holy Spirit is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding.
- So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Spirit, not three Holy Spirits.
- And in this Trinity none is afore or after another; none is greater or less than another.
- But the whole three persons are coeternal, and coequal.
- So that in all things, as aforesaid, the Unity in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity is to be worshipped.
- He therefore that will be saved must thus think of the Trinity.
- Furthermore it is necessary to everlasting salvation that he also believe rightly the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- For the right faith is that we believe and confess that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and man.
- God of the substance of the Father, begotten before the worlds; and man of substance of His mother, born in the world.
- Perfect God and perfect man, of a reasonable soul and human flesh subsisting.
- Equal to the Father as touching His Godhead, and inferior to the Father as touching His manhood.
- Who, although He is God and man, yet He is not two, but one Christ.
- One, not by conversion of the Godhead into flesh, but by taking of that manhood into God.
- One altogether, not by confusion of substance, but by unity of person.
- For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one man, so God and man is one Christ;
- Who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead;
- He ascended into heaven, He sits on the right hand of the Father, God, Almighty;
- From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
- At whose coming all men shall rise again with their bodies;
- and shall give account of their own works.
- And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting and they that have done evil into everlasting fire.
- This is the catholic faith, which except a man believe faithfully he cannot be saved.
Thirty-seven articles confessing the whole Reformed faith: God and how He makes Himself known, Scripture, the Trinity, creation, the fall, Christ and salvation, the church and its marks, the sacraments, civil government, and the last judgment.
Guido de Brès wrote it for the persecuted Reformed churches of the Lowlands, the region that is now Belgium and the Netherlands, and threw a copy over the castle wall to the authorities, pleading that these believers were not rebels. They would obey the government in all lawful things, he wrote, but they would rather offer their backs to stripes and their bodies to the fire than deny the truth written in this confession. Within six years he was martyred for it. When we confess these articles, we confess a faith people died holding.

It opens with the most loved question in any catechism: What is your only comfort in life and in death? The answer already stands on our Home page: that I am not my own, but belong, body and soul, in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. Everything else in the catechism unfolds from that comfort, one Lord’s Day at a time.
READ THE FULL CATECHISMThe Reformed churches’ answer to the five objections of the Remonstrants, a party in the Dutch churches that rejected the doctrines of grace. The answer came in five heads of doctrine: divine election, the death of Christ, human corruption, conversion by grace, and the perseverance of the saints.
An international synod gathered at Dordrecht in the Netherlands with delegates from across Europe and answered point by point, with a pastor’s hand as much as a scholar’s. The canons are where the church confessed most carefully that salvation, from first to last, is the work of God’s grace, and that He finishes what He begins in His people.

Our Reformed Heritage
Morningstar Reformed Church is a member of the Alliance of Reformed Churches, a family of congregations rooted in the historic Reformed faith. Our tradition is Dutch Reformed, which means our teaching is shaped by the Three Forms of Unity: the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort. In plain terms, we believe what the church has confessed for centuries: God is sovereign in salvation, His covenant promises hold, and all of life belongs to Him.

Our Story
Founded for Faithful, Biblical Ministry
Morningstar Church was founded out of a desire to see a church in our community firmly rooted in God’s Word, clear in the gospel, and shaped by the historic truths of the Christian faith. We are still in the early days, and we are thankful for how the Lord has already been at work among us. These milestones mark some of the ways He has begun to form our life together.
Feb. 2025 - Founding of Morningstar
In February 2025, Morningstar Church was founded by local families with a shared desire to worship Christ, grow in His Word, and build a faithful church life together.
Feb. 2026 - First Gospel by the Fire
In February 2026, we hosted our first Gospel by the Fire gathering, which was an evening of God’s Word, conversation, and warm fellowship with the community
April 2026 - Launching of Website
In 2026, the Website Ministry began as a way to glorify God by serving both visitors and our church family through clear teaching, sermon access, visit planning, and ongoing connection to the life of the church.
Aug. 2026 - Launching of Outreach Ministry
In August 2026, the Outreach Ministry began: new ways to plan a visit or request prayer from any page of our website, with more to come as the Lord leads.
